In my advancing decrepitude I find things that once represented grandparents (read: mortality); moth balls, golf pants, Old Spice, Murder She Wrote, and bow ties, I have begun to find oddly comforting. Of course I didn't sport today's outfit hoping to sneak in line at the senior center's commissary (I haven't the requisite tennis ball footed walker anyway). I was betting on looking like a wayward school boy, albeit one who has a fake ID and had passed it off at the neighborhood bar.

But even better than my tender barman Artie 86'ing me, again, was being invited to a dinner thrown by Ms KMK. She resembles her cooking in that she's the perfect amount of all the right ingredients: equal parts beauty, brains, a warm heart, with a splash of vodka tonic. The food, and company, were great entrees, and that she would slave all day in a kitchen for a gang of ingrates earned her a halo, but then there were those desserts (yes, that's a plural) too boot! But this is supposed to be about clothes, my clothes specifically, so besides mentioning that I managed not to wear too much of my dinner (this time), I'll go on a writing "diet" about food (for now).

Anyway, I have to admit my having warmed to bow ties only recently. For years I found the look marvelous on others, even pregeriatrics, but hesitated attempting it myself, afraid I might look too nerdling or preternatural geezer, which was silly, since I've always been conspicuously both. And now, of course, I can only wonder why I waited so long. The cardigan has a nice detail in the mismatched buttons, and it's collegiate look helped bring the median age of the outfit down several decades.
